Who we are
Scholar Society was born by chance. At Oxford, pandemic travel restrictions forced many students to join later cohorts. While graduating later felt bad initially, the silver lining was being united with double the normal amount of our degree fellows.
This experience sparked graduation-week thoughts: could we unite both cohorts? more cohorts? maybe even all cohorts? could it sustain post-graduation?
Thanks to modern tech a social group, directory file, and a few web forms were spun up. Within days the majority of alumni had joined and every cohort was united, for the first time, ever.
This desire for community, with a shared academic journey and aligned professional pursuits, was clearly not limited to recent students. Faculty and departments also showed interest in joining the emergent scholarly community.
Today these scholars enjoy safe, scalable, and purpose-built spaces where they can unite with fellows of the same degree, department, and peer universities to exchange academic and professional questions, opportunities, thoughts, and resources.
Scholar Society is the effort of these scholars to unlock the same for all scholars, and more opportunity for all in doing so. Join us.
